Removing in tank fuel pickup

Hey all, I have a 1998 ZX185c and I’m wondering if anyone knows how to get the fuel pickup out of the tank? I’ve unthreaded the big nut on the elbow fitting that the fuel line connects to. Then I unscrewed the elbow from the aluminum fitting that is in the top of the tank. I can the pull it up but whatever is on the end of the standpipe keeps it from coming up and out of the tank. I want to check that the screen on the end of the fuel standpipe isn’t partially blocked because I’m struggling with a loss of power after running at WOT for a bit. Thanks

Before pulling the pickup apart, I'd also check the fuel lines, primer bulb and tank vent since they can cause the same symptoms. Hopefully someone with a ZX185C can chime in with the trick to getting that pickup tube out without damaging it.
