Adding smart tabs & jack plate

My 1990 Skeeter SX 170 is in almost perfect shape but struggles getting on plane with two people and gear. As a solution, I've been thinking of adding Smart Tabs and maybe a 4-inch manual jack plate. Has anyone here tried this combo on an older Skeet? Is it worth it?

Great idea! Smart Tabs really enhance the performance of older boats like yours. I put them on an older model, and I saw a noticeable drop in planning time, along with improved bow control. Adding a 4" manual jack plate could really help you fine-tune the engine height for a better holeshot and trim. I'd suggest starting with the tabs to see how it goes, and then consider the jack plate if you think it's necessary. Also, have you looked into your prop pitch? That can definitely make a difference too.
