Black Max overheating at low speeds

I've got a 2002 Skeeter with a Black Max motor that's overheating when I'm slow trolling. The temperatures shoot up pretty fast, even when it's just idling with the clutch engaged. Any suggestions for troubleshooting this issue?

Your water pump or impeller might not be moving enough water at low speeds. Maybe there's wear on the impeller? or so. check for debris and then ensure the cooling passages aren't clogged.
